The mass-market title Astronomy fell off my radar, sorry, but this time we get a COVER STORY (and more)! In the Dec 2025 issue (vol. 53, #12) is:
Hyman, Randall p. 16 How we track near-Earth asteroids
Chaple, Glenn p. 36 Spot an asteroid tonight
The big coverage is a quick snapshot of asteroid hunting, and planetary defense, circa mid-2025. If you haven’t already been reading this blog, this should get you up to speed. If there’s a flaw, it’s that they try to include too much in their ~6 pages of text.
Chaple’s second article is far more personable- he goes through his personal experience and tips as an amateur asteroid spotter. Pretty solid, except for (1) Ceres somehow not being an asteroid, despite its asteroid number.
