Admittedly, NEOs have to share time with X-class solar flares, gamma-ray bursts, etc. So the 240 pages of this book cannot go into as much detail as some of us would prefer. Still, publicity is publicity.

Also note that Dr. French begins with Earth’s relative priviledge and safety. He states that most of the truly disastrous asteroids are already known. As one might expect from a Royal Greenwich astronomer, he’s not one to profit from hype and scaremongering.
