In case you hadn’t already marked your calendar: the Rubin Users Committee will meet on Monday:

Rubin Users Committee 2025B Meeting, Oct 27, 8 AM – 10 AM PDT
This is your chance to give feedback on initial performance, draft schedules and procedures, documentation, upcoming work, or something I can’t even think of right now. That’s the whole point of the Users Committee- representing the end clients of Rubin and Synoptic Survey data. Don’t say you never got any chance to speak.
For one, there is a proposal to do an early “Twilight Microsurvey”, to find asteroids inside Earth’s orbit where the Sun makes things difficult. This early procedure is proposed to take place as soon as possible after first light, so the contamination of satellite megaconstellations will be as minimal as can be. The later this microsurvey takes place, the greater the amount of space junk in the way. And, in general, Solar System astronomy (asteroids, Centaurs, TNOs, etc.) is only one of Vera Rubin’s four priorities. It is up to us in the small-body community to make sure no single priority dominates the other three.
