Note, Paper: Mea C. A.

I had spoken too soon about the August issue of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta. There was something there, something rather worthy. And here’s September, too:

vol. 379 Aug
Yui, H. Urashima, S.-h. Onose, M. et al. Pyrrhotites in asteroid 162173 Ryugu: Records of the initi… p. 172 doi.org/10.1016/j.gca.2024.06.016

vol. 380 1 Sep
Schrader, D. L. Cloutis, E. A. Applin, D. M. … Render, J. Tarda and Tagish Lake: Samples from th… p. 48-70

Yui et al. trace the history of Ryugu (or at least, this sample) via the alteration of sulfur compounds, including the iron products. Quite a history.

Schrader et al. claim the two very odd carbonaceous chondrites, Tarda and especially Tagish Lake, may be two domains from one asteroid. Very interesting… especially since we suspect Tagish Lake may be our first meteorite from its kind: a sample of a far-outer-Belt asteroid, or even a Jupiter Trojan object.
