3I Silent. That’s Right, Silent

More news (or, literally not) on 3I/ATLAS:

Li, J-K. Tao, Z-Z. Zhang, T-J.  Narrowband Radio Technosignature Search toward 3I/ATLAS with FAST

Spoiler alert: no technosignature detected, to within a few milliwatts.

The FAST (Five-hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope) is the biggest “dish” in the world. Turning to our little visitor on multiple, significant points in its trajectory through our System, researchers saw no evidence of transmissions. No evidence.

Oh, and my standard disclaimer: this paper, like all papers on arXiv, is time-sensitive and is, at best, rushed compared to standard scientific procedure (peer review). Granted, in this case the authors are reporting a non-detection, with their instrument and sensitivity limits described. That’s hardly a case of jumping to conclusions.
