More data points on our interstellar comet:

Bolin, B. Wong I. Abron, L-M.  December 2025 Gemini spectroscopic and photometric constraints on the activity and gas contents of 3I/ATLAS
ATel #17719

The Gemini telescopes (that’s right, two of them) are “facility” instruments. That is, they are open to any observer who applies (…and passes a review, no small hurdle). Observing one of only three interstellar objects known so far is the sort of thing that would pass the review board. Yet another eye on 3I corroborates our understanding of its activity, composition, changes in activity, and other, rarer possibilities like outbursts and fracturing. The large aperture of the Gemini design can spot rarer gases like C3, despite the comet receding and cooling.
