Congratulations to author John Scalzi, newly commemorated with his own asteroid. The small Solar System body (52692) Johnscalzi, formerly under the temporary designation 1998 FO8, was given its permanent name by the IAU earlier this week.
Celebrated author John Scalzi has a long history of science fiction publishing, and let’s not forget the presidency of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He also blogs (“Whatever“), giving a meta-glimpse into the world of writing and publishing. Since achieving success as an author, he has also branched into TV/film productions.
Like a good book, the astronomical commemoration can be both an immediate rush and a lasting (perpetual) work and tribute. Congrats again!
