Note, Paper: Comin’ In Hot

The Jan Acta Astronautica (vol. 238, Part A) brings us:

Yuan, X. Tian, Y. Cui, H. Autonomous spacecraft navigation via semantic probability map of natural features Pg 37-50
Jin, J. Wen, K. Ke, F-W. et al. Influence of interface effects on shielding performance of aluminum plates under hypervelocity impact Pg 65
Leclère, N. Kerschen, G. Bifurcation map of periodic and quasi-periodic orbits around the asteroid 433 Eros using the harmonic balance method Pg 1171

Asteroid missions are at distances of ~1 AU, and too far for direct ‘joysticking’, due to the round trip light time. (Yet, NEAR Shoemaker, Hayabusa, Haya2, and OREX did just fine.) Yuan et al. make it ‘just finer’.

Whipple Shields- critical for close comet flybys, and a good idea for comet missions in general. (Yet, Deep Space 1 and Rosetta did just fine.) Jin et al. put more decimal places on the plates.

And speaking of NEAR, a well-documented asteroid makes for a good test case. Leclère et al. test their gravity solver on the case.
