The Hayabusa Symposiums have been going on for years now, ever since Hayabusa 1 gave us samples of Itokawa. Samples sealed into a return chamber, without a fiery entry and ground impact. The meetings also coincide with Japan’s Polar Research meetings, which is no accident- Antarctica’s ice sheets are, by a large margin, the #1 source of meteorites, including rare groups. (Hence, M. Zolensky is there.) Between those sample sources, it’s a geochemical/cosmochemical smorgasbord, which is why K. Lodders is there. Wish I was there.
